Ghostery

Теперь найдите строчку «browser.privatebrowsing.autostart».

Cliqz is a web browser developed by Cliqz GmbH. It is a fork of the Firefox web browser with privacy-oriented changes, among which are a crowdsourced anti-tracking mechanism, and an in-house search engine embedded within the browser, utilizing its own index of web pages to produce suggestions within the address bar dropdown menu rather than on separate pages. The browser's developers argued that other privacy-focused search engines may still pass the user's IP address to third-party search providers.[citation needed]Cliqz is available as a desktop and mobile web browser, as well as an extension for Firefox itself.[2][3]

Cliqz is majority-owned by Hubert Burda Media. In August 2016, Mozilla, developer of Firefox, made a strategic investment in Cliqz. Cliqz plans to eventually monetize the software through a program known as Cliqz Offers, which will deliver sponsored offers to users based on their interests and browsing history. However, these recommendations will be processed locally based on a remote repository of offers, with no personally identifiable data sent to remote servers.[3]

On 15 February 2017, Cliqz International GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cliqz GmbH, acquired the privacy-oriented browser extension Ghostery.[4][5]

Human Web[edit]

The Human Web is the open source and GDPR compliant data collecting mechanism developed by Cliqz GmbH used to gather data about trackers, websites and non-personal usage data.[6]

The Human Web builds the foundation of the built-in search functionality in the Cliqz Browser and the Cliqz (and Ghostery) plugins.

It has been built from the ground up based on privacy by design principles and consists of two core components:

  • the data collection framework
  • the proxy network

The Human Web data collection framework strips all data points contributed by users that could be used to directly or indirectly identify the user. The Human Web client also filters out non-personal but potentially unsafe data (e.g. the path from a url www.twitter.com/{username}), before being sent to Cliqz, because the aggregation of data over time could be used to identify a single user (see also K-anonymity).[7][6]

The transmission to the Human Web Server is realized via a proxy network. The clients (either the Cliqz Plugin for Firefox or the Cliqz Browser for Desktop or Android) send data sets hourly and at fixed times to the proxy network. The proxies collect data sets from many different users and relay the batches to Cliqz. The IP used for the transmission from the client to the proxy network will not be collected.

This mechanism makes it impossible for Cliqz to aggregate personal user data on the server side, and thus makes it impossible to identify a user immediately or over time by fingerprinting particular user related surf patterns. In case of a security breach (ie. by a hacker) the mechanism guarantees that there are no personal data stored on the proxies or the servers of the Human Web.

Which data are currently sent to Cliqz can be viewed on the "about:transparency" tab of the Cliqz Browser. A complete set of potential data points sent can be viewed on the transparency web page.

The Human Web is now integrated into the anti-tracking tool Ghostery. The participation to contribute data remains voluntary for information about trackers and websites.

Cliqz – search directly in your browser :: Add-ons for Firefox

With Cliqz you'll experience an entirely new web: direct, fast and smart

QUICK SEARCHDirect: In most cases, you already have a good idea of where you want to go, where you can do something specific or where you can get the information you need. Searches like these with a view to navigating make up the lion's share of web searches. And you can now carry out these searches from within your browser. This is where Cliqz differs fundamentally from conventional search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo first take you to their own pages. Once there, you have to scan through a long list of search results and ads to find the most appropriate hit. With Cliqz, you can search without this detour.

Fast: Simply click on a recommendation from the short selection in the drop-down menu and you'll be taken straight to the relevant website. For popular websites, there are smart Cliqz abbreviations. Instead of visiting the relevant homepage and then working your way step by step to your actual destination, you can go straight to the right place.

Smart: With smart Cliqz for direct replies, you can find what you're looking for even more quickly and easily. They provide you with a wide range of information within your browser – from flight status to weather. And with the smart Cliqz for news sites, you're always up to date.

OpenShould you need more or different search results, you can easily redirect your query to other search engines.

How it worksWhile you're typing search terms or web addresses, a clearly structured selection of website recommendations is shown in the Cliqz drop-down menu below the entry field. The recommendations are based either on our own search technology or on your Firefox history or bookmarks. As a result, you can find what you want quickly and discover new sites, but also have convenient access to your favorites.

Simply click on a recommendation and you're taken straight to the relevant website. If you'd like to open the website in a new tab, click on the logo to the right of the recommendation. Not the right website after all? Clicking on the grey button at the left of the browser bar takes you back to the recommendations so that you can try out the next one. Still not found the right one? Place the cursor in the entry field and press the "Enter" key. Your search entry will then be forwarded automatically to your standard search engine set in Firefox.

YOUR NEW HUBCliqz Tab PageCliqz offers its own page that you will see on opening a new window or a new tab. This new tab page includes speed dials for your most visited websites (excluding websites from private sessions, of course) and favorite sites. You can manually add and remove speed dials. The Cliqz new tab page keeps you up-to-date by showing you a mix of headlines from popular news sources and news sources you visit often. The Cliqz Tab page is switched on by default. Prefer your “old” Firefox page? You can turn Cliqz Tab off at any time via the Cliqz Control Center (see the “Q” symbol in the browser bar or your settings menu).

RECLAIM CONTROL OVER YOUR DATAAnti-TrackingIt is common for websites to include tracking services that record all user activity. Multiple tracking companies watch user’s every step, even what they do on individual websites. It’s close to impossible to know how and where your personal information gets distributed. The Cliqz Anti-Tracking feature overwrites all tracking data that could be used to identify you as an individual user. Cliqz protects you efficiently from being tracked.

Data protectionCliqz respects your privacy. We don't store any kind of personal information. Cliqz for Firefox and our backend-infrastructure have been awarded the "Certified Data Protection" seal by the safety standards authority for Saarland (TÜV). No information is stored on the identity and behavior of individual web users. By preference, our browser add-on shows you the encrypted version of websites (HTTPS) in its search results. You can read more in the privacy statement (button above).

TransparencyThe softwarecode of the Cliqz browser and browser extension is Open Source .

Human WebCliqz uses the wisdom of the crowd – users provide statistical data and thus build Cliqz's web index. We call this technology "Human Web". From users who participate in the Human Web, Cliqz stores on its servers anonymous data about website visits. Separately, Cliqz stores anonymous data about web searches and inputs into the browser bar. Human Web data is exclusively used to detect websites and assess their relevance and security. Participating in the Human Web is optional. Learn more about the Human Web and how to opt-in or out in the privacy statement .

Cliqz is there for youIf you have any questions, comments or suggestions for improvement, our "helping hand" is there to assist you personally – via web form, e-mail or phone. We also look forward to hearing from you via Facebook or Twitter.

About Cliqz We are a Munich start-up company whose mission is to strengthen the position of Internet users and to put them in control. Our team of over 100 internet enthusiasts dedicates its efforts to making the web a little bit better for you every day. We believe in an open Internet, the right of privacy and open source. Cliqz GmbH is owned by Mozilla and Hubert Burda Media, a European media company. Cliqz operates independently from other Burda businesses, does not share any data with them and handles Burda-owned websites just as any other websites (e.g. in search ranking and anti-tracking).

Give Cliqz a tryCliqz was originally designed for German users. We work hard on supporting more countries/languages. Our US-English search already produces good results, although not yet on the same quality level that we already reached in German. It's definely worth a try! Just see it as a beta-version of a US search engine. As Cliqz search is desiged to learn fast, you'll quickly see improvements. If Cliqz doesn't show a suitable website recommendation, you can continue your search using your standard search engine with just a click. You'll soon get used to the new way of navigating the web using quick search. If you'd rather return to the conventional system for searching the web, you can easily uninstall Cliqz and remove it completely. Simply make the relevant setting under "Add-Ons" in the Firefox menu (at the very top right of the browser).

Ghostery is Acquired by Cliqz!

February 15, 2017 – By Ghostery Team

Hello Ghosterians,

We are overjoyed to announce that the Ghostery extension and mobile browsers have been acquired by Cliqz, a German company owned by Mozilla and Hubert Burda Media that builds ground-breaking browser technologies to make the internet more private and easier to use.  Cliqz’s marquee product is its desktop browser, whose built-in quick search and anti-tracking features empower users to quickly and safely explore the internet without sharing personal information or search queries with outside companies. This unique technology is powered by the Cliqz Human Web, a revolutionary way for a collective of users to contribute anonymous statistical data to improve the relevancy and safety of advanced Cliqz privacy features.  Ghostery proudly joins this state-of-the-art browser and the rest of the Cliqz product suite to set a new standard in privacy protection.  Additionally, as part of this acquisition, Ghostery and Cliqz will continue to work closely with our previous parent company, Evidon, to help the organization support its industry-leading Digital Governance solutions by continuing to provide the same aggregated tracker data that we have previously.

What does this mean for Ghostery users?

First, rest assured that Ghostery will remain an independent product and that the same passionate (and uncommonly attractive) product team committed to its success will be joining the Cliqz family as a subsidiary company.  Second, to put it simply, Ghostery is about to become smarter, more powerful, and easier to use.  The Cliqz anti-tracking technology is a truly revolutionary solution that uses algorithmic blocking that doesn’t require a blocklist, a feature we will integrate into Ghostery as soon as we possibly can.  Third, we are making Ghostery immediately available on the Cliqz browser, so if you want to see this chocolate-and-peanut-butter relationship between algorithmic and blocklist anti-tracking in action, you can check it out right now.   Finally, Ghostery data collection will remain the same for all existing users, will be strengthened by Cliqz’s best-in-class privacy practices, and will be done in accordance with Germany data privacy laws, the strictest in the world.  While data collection will remain the same, we have updated our privacy statements to reflect the change of ownership, which you can see here.

What’s next for Ghostery?

We will be working closely with the Cliqz team to immediately start exploring new concepts and opportunities, many of which you’ll see us experimenting with in our product in the coming months.  Among these will be the trial implementation of the Human Web as the infrastructure that we use to collect data to improve our own products.  It’s important to underscore how cutting-edge this technology is and the importance it plays in collecting data safely and responsibly from users in a way that completely guarantees their anonymity and privacy.  If you’d like to dig into the weeds and learn more about how the Human Web works, you check out the open-source code for it here.

Where do Ghostery and Cliqz go from here?

The integration of Ghostery and Cliqz technology will set a new benchmark in consumer privacy protection in the immediate future and beyond.  As we look forward, Ghostery will play a critical part in Cliqz’s mission to build an internet that has privacy built into its DNA, puts the needs of the user first, and provides the critical infrastructure needed for the business models that drive our digital economies.  In the process, we are going to be testing some bold, forward-thinking ideas that could reshape the foundation of how the internet works.  As always, we’re eager to invite you, the user, to join us in this process and actively shape these ideas as we test and build them.  If you’d like to help us in this, please join our beta group or email us directly ([email protected]) with your comments and feedback.

Ghostery and Cliqz are excited to start this journey together to build a better, more private internet. We hope you are, too.

Happy Surfin’,

The Ghostery Team

Cliqz Beta for Firefox -
