Что такое Nexus Mod Manager

Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) – это бесплатная программа с открытым кодом, позволяющая скачивать, устанавливать и обновлять моды для линейки популярных игр.

Функционал NMM полностью автоматизирован, все процессы совершаются за пару кликов, уберегая пользователя от различной инсталляционной рутины. Отключение (удаление) ранее установленного мода проводится не менее быстро, позволяя избежать траты времени на поиск и удаление соответствующих файлов в теле игры.

Для установки нужного мода вам будет достаточно выбрать его, далее Nexus Mod Manager скачает и установит данный мод в нужную игровую директорию на вашем ПК.

Среди поддерживаемых NMM игр — популярная action/RPG «Fallout 4»

Как скачать Nexus Mod Manager

  1. Для того, чтобы начать пользоваться Nexus Mod Manager необходимо будет скачать данную программу с сайта Nexusmods.com.
  2. Перейдите на данный сайт, кликните вверху на надпись «not logged in», в открывшемся окошке выберите «create an account» (создать аккаунт).
  3. На открывшейся странице кликните на кнопку «Register» справа (nexus mod manager регистрация), промотайте открывшуюся страницу вниз и нажмите на кнопку «Create Account».

  1. В окне регистрации введите своё имя или ник (Username), е-мейл, пароль к своему аккаунту (Password), ещё раз тот же пароль (Confirm Password), укажите свой пол (Gender).
  2. Затем вам будет необходимо ответить по-английски на вопрос программы, которая хочет удостовериться, что вы не бот.
  3. Если вы не знаете английский язык на должном уровне, тогда рекомендую воспользоваться программами-переводчиками, который помогут дать англоязычный вариант правильного ответ на указанный вопрос.
  4. Затем введите капчу в соответствующем рядке, поставьте галочку напротив «I’ve read and agree to the Terms of Use», и нажмите на кнопку «Create Account».
  5. На ваш е-мейл будет выслано письмо с подтверждением регистрации, и, после нажатия на соответствующую ссылку в нём, вы получите возможность войти на сайт под выбранным ранее логином и паролем.

Проходим процедуру регистрации

Теперь скачайте Nexus Mod Manager, выбрав соответствующую версию для своей операционной системы, и установите данную программу на ПК.

Как пользоваться программой Nexus Mod Manager

При своём первом запуске NMM начнёт автоматический поиск на ПК поддерживаемых ею игр. При необходимости вы можете прервать процесс, самостоятельно установив или сняв галочки с нужных игр. Если приложение Nexus Mod Manager не найдёт хотя бы одну из поддерживаемых игр, он досрочно завершит работу. Вы можете непосредственно указать программе путь к игре, без необходимости ожидать, пока NMM найдёт данную игру на компьютере (кликните на кнопку с тремя точками рядом с названием нужной игры).

Затем вам будет необходимо выбрать одну из установленных (и найденных NMM на вашем компьютере) игр, с модами к которой вы желаете работать.

Выберите нужную вам игру

Если вы захотите сменить игру, с которой вы в данный момент работаете, тогда нажмите на кнопку в правом верхнем углу (Default game). Также вы можете вновь просканировать компьютер на наличие поддерживаемых NMM игр нажав на «Rescan Installed Games».

На главном экране присутствуют две основные закладки – «Mods» (Моды) и Plugins (плагины к модам).

Для установки мода необходимо будет найти его на одном из интернет-ресурсов. К примеру, можно воспользоваться уже упомянутым сайтом Nexusmods.com, где содержится огромное количество модов к поддерживаемым NMM играм (к примеру, моды к игре Fallout 4).

  1. Переходите на Nexusmods.com, жмёте на закладку «Files», кликаете на «Browse files».
  2. Выбираете нужный мод, в открывшемся окне описания мода переходите на вкладку «Files».
  3. Здесь жмёте на кнопку «Download with manager», выбираете загрузку с помощью вспомогательного инструмента «Nexus Mod Manager», и кликаете на «Открыть ссылку».
  4. Избранный мод будет закачан на ПК с помощью NMM, и появится в списке модов программы. Для его активации кликните на нём, а затем нажмите на кнопку с большой зелёной галочкой слева.
  5. Для ручного добавления мода, уже имеющегося на нашем компьютере, достаточно нажать на зелёный плюсик в главном окне NMM, и указать программе путь к нужному моду на жёстком диске.
  6. После его загрузки, и появлении в списке имеющихся модов, его также необходимо активировать, нажав на зелёную галочку.
  7. Для запуска игры с выбранным нами модом жмём на большую кнопку слева сверху «Launch (имя игры)».
  8. Если вам необходимо отключить установленный ранее мод, тогда кликните на нужный мод и слева выберите «Diactivates the selected mod» или дважды кликните на строчку с данным модом.

If a computer game becomes dull or if you want more content, you can install one or more modifications, known as mods. They are commonly used on simulators and role playing games, but you can also find numerous mods for first person shooters or other game genres. Usually, installing a mod involves copying or replacing a series of files in one of the game's folders, which raises many problems. Installing multiple mods will make it next to impossible to tell which files belong to a specific mod and if you attempt to remove them, you risk damaging your game. This is where Nexus Mod Manager comes in. It gives you the possibility of installing, removing or updating mods, with noting more than a few clicks, on a user friendly interface. It makes modding easier and completely safe, so even novice users can modify their games, without any difficulties.

The software is currently in open-beta stage. It is a community driven project and it is absolutely free. You can install the application in a few seconds, but you will have to make a few configurations, when you launch it for the first time and create an online account. Nexus Mod Manager works with various games, including popular ones, like Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and others.

There is much to be said about Nexus Mod Manager's simplicity. Its main advantage is the fact that it eliminates the need to copy files manually, in the correct location, when you wish to install a new mod. If one or more of the supported games are installed on your computer, the software will detect them automatically.

You should know that Nexus Mod Manager is something more than a simple application. It is an entire service for modding games. The developer's website houses a large community of modders. If you log into your online account, you can download the available mods (which are all free), using the software's built-in download manager. When the download is complete, the mod will appear on the software's interface immediately. Imported mods are neatly organized in a large tree structure, in various categories, like armors, weapons, animations and many others, depending on the game itself. It is also possible to add mods manually. Once you download a mod, you can load its main file, with a standard Open dialog.

When a new mod is added on the interface, you just need to select it and click a button, located on the left side of the window, to activate it. The software will copy all the necessary files in the appropriate location automatically. Conflicts between mods, or modifications that damage the game are not unheard of. This is why Nexus Mod Manager comes with a Disable option as well. If a mod does not work or if you wish to try something else, you can select the mod and click an option to disable it. Deleting mods is another possibility. Furthermore, the software will display small notification icons, next to individual mods, if new versions are made available and you will be able to update those mods fast and easy.

Another feature, that is definitely worth mentioning, is the possibility of managing mods, for different games, in parallel. As previously mentioned, Nexus Mod Manager will detect any supported games, if they are installed on your computer. When you launch the software, it will ask you which game you wish to modify. You can switch between games at any time, by selecting its title, in the upper right corner of the interface. When you switch to another game, the interface will display a different tree structure, with different mods, for the selected game. In other words, you can manage a game's mods, without affecting another game's modifications.

Pros:The software enables you to install mods on your games, without struggling to copy a number of files in the correct location. Downloaded mods are displayed on the interface instantly and you can activate or deactivate them with a single click. Nexus Mod Manager works with various games and you can manage their mods separately, on the same interface.

Cons:Nexus Mod Manager does not present any serious issues.

We cannot stress enough that we are still in the beta stage of NMM. NMM is in a very good state and will be usable by nearly everyone, but Beta stages are typically used for testing and bug fixing, and some of you will find bugs.

We are using a bug tracker system on our forums that allows you to post any bugs you might have with NMM. We cannot fix a bug if you do not report it! Using the tracker system is as intuitive as making a post on a forum, and you can login to it using your Nexus username and password.

We also have a beta test subforum that contains all the information you need to know to get started, report bugs and help us with development of NMM.

Limitations

We don't want to make you think that NMM is the solution to your problems getting 1,000 mods to all work together right now. It's our aim to to reach that point and it's what we're working towards. However, even simple mods can be a complex business and trying to get many mods to all work together is something people in the community have been working hard to do since the start of this community. NMM is designed to make your life downloading, installing, updating and managing mods easier, but it will not currently be the wonder pill that will make all your conflicts and compatibility issues disappear. Load orders, conflicts and compatibility issues still exist with NMM at this time.

Mods may not work for a number of different reasons, and not all of them are the fault of NMM or the mod author who created the mod(s). Please remember this before you verbally abuse us, or the file authors, for not being able to get your mods to work.

Having said that, development is ongoing with NMM to make these difficult aspects of modding as easy to overcome as is possible within the limits of the game. We are working hard to not only ensure these issues are mitigated as much as possible within NMM, but also to ensure our program is compatible with any other tools and utilities you might use at the moment to deal with them.

Open Source Development

Built from the ground-up using knowledge working on the Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) software, NMM is a completely new mod management program that attempts to make downloading and installing modifications easier for all users of the Nexus sites. We are releasing NMM as a completely open source piece of software under the copy-left GPL license. This means all the code that makes NMM work is open for you to view, edit, modify and even use, so long as you follow the GPL license. Similarly it means we can work with and cooperate with other open source tools and utilities made within the community, and outside of it as well.

We are a modding community and we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for people sharing their work with others, be it the game developers sharing their toolsets with us, programmers sharing their utilities or mod authors sharing their work. Without people sharing their knowledge with others we would have nothing, and that's why releasing our code as open source is important to us. It means that:

Skyrim Nexus - mods and community

We’re all very aware that it’s been a long time since we provided an update on what’s happening in the grand scheme of the Nexus Mod Manager. Too long. As such, it’s time to reveal a few exciting things and our plans moving forward. Oh, and sorry, it’s one of those “long ones” again.

The Nexus Mod Manager -- the software we’ve been working on these past six years that helps make modding the more popular games on Nexus Mods easier for users. For me, NMM is a bitter-sweet tool with the Nexus name attached to it; it’s been downloaded over 20 million times by over 6.6 million individuals and it helps over a million people every month mod their games more easily, but for some reason, despite thousands of hours of work, it just hasn’t lived up to my expectations.

Why? Oh, lots of reasons, but it does involve a history lesson…

The largest reason by far is that it’s derived from software which is now over 10 years old. All the way back in March of 2006, just 11 days after Oblivion was released, mod author Timeslip launched the Oblivion Mod Manager on what was then TESSource (and what would later become TESNexus, then Nexus Mods). OBMM was a simple yet effective multi-purpose tool for modding Oblivion.

True to form, Timeslip also released a mod manager for Fallout 3 called the Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) when the game was released in 2008. At some point around 2009-2010, Timeslip no longer continued work on the two mod managers and this work was taken over by Nexus user “kaburke”, who continued where Timeslip left off. Kaburke was made an active developer on FOMM and also released support for Fallout New Vegas.

Upon Skyrim’s announcement in December of 2010, I set to work looking for a developer who could create a mod manager for the Nexus. The premise was simple; create a simple mod manager for the Bethesda games that we were currently supporting that allowed users to easily add mods directly from the Nexus site into their game. Back in those days, we only hosted mods for Bethesda games and Dragon Age, so the focus was really just on the Bethesda games.

With Timeslip now retired from working on the mod managers, Kaburke was an obvious choice to fill this role. He had the experience from working on OBMM and FOMM and a deep understanding of modding Bethesda’s games. As such, he was commissioned to work on the Nexus Mod Manager. It borrowed heavily from OBMM and FOMM, both released under open source GPL licenses, with Kaburke making some changes and additions to accommodate things he’d learnt from working on those previous mod managers.

So you see, the very foundations of NMM were built around code for a game that is now over 10 years old.

Once Kaburke’s work was done 11 months later in November of 2011, he provided some bug support but he was not able to become a full-time developer for the software. Ultimately, it was clear I would need a full time developer to be brought on to continue to provide support and expand NMM further. Naturally, this meant getting in a developer to work on an entire codebase that was not his own to begin with.

Since then, we’ve been working hard to bolster the functionality and scope of the software despite being constantly stymied by code that is long past its prime by developers who have long since moved on from the community and their work on the mod managers. As you likely well know, it’s been slow going, and not without its hiccups.

Over these past 6 years the scope of NMM has changed dramatically. No longer is it just a simple mod manager for Bethesda games; we also want it to work with many other games and do more advanced things than it was ever originally intended to do. Things that are taking us an inordinate amount of time as we find ourselves constantly fighting the (now) archaic code that NMM is built upon.

It’s been clear for quite some time that something would need to give, and I knew exactly what needed to be done. We needed to bring someone on board who could rebuild the Nexus Mod Manager from the ground up with a fresh and open mind and the ability to manage the NMM dev team. However, finding a new developer requires time, preparation, and of course...money.

I’ve said a few times now that when it comes to hiring staff, I take that responsibility very seriously. I don’t just look at the cash flow of the sites and hope that I can afford things month-to-month on a shoestring budget. I deliberately save up enough money to pay for the wages of any new staff member for an entire year. These are people who rely on me to pay the bills and feed their families, and I’m not going to let them down. That’s why this has taken so long. Developers are not cheap, and nor should they be, they do skilled work.

In terms of who was right for the job, the perfect candidate for this job has been on our doorstep the entire time. I know it, and a lot of you know it too.

Back in April of this year I got in contact with Tannin42. Ring a bell? It should. Since Skyrim’s release in 2011 he’s been working in his spare time on Skyrim Mod Organizer. Unless you’re new to modding or don’t spend much time in the community, it’s very likely you’ve heard of it, and potentially even use it. It’s currently been downloaded by over 800,000 members of Skyrim Nexus and is seen as the go-to tool for advanced modding of Skyrim by most.

For years, NMM and MO have existed side-by-side as mod managers for Skyrim. NMM, a simple and easy to understand tool that caters to the majority of needs for the majority of users. MO, an advanced tool that caters to advanced users and users who wanted more control over modding (and understanding the modding) of their games. Both have co-existed relatively peacefully because it’s clear that there’s a demand for both a simple manager and a complex manager for modding games.

Tannin was a logical choice to fill the development role as simply put; he’s the real deal. He’s got a proven track record. I don’t need to see a CV (though I did see a CV) because Mod Organizer is his CV. If Mod Organizer is what Tannin can do in his spare time while also doing a full time programming job, what could he do if he worked full-time on a mod manager with two skilled and experienced NMM programmers working with him as a team?

So it’s with great pleasure that I can finally announce that Tannin is our new Head NMM Developer. He began his new life at the Nexus at the beginning of August this year.

Together with fellow NMM programmers Fabio and Luca, Tannin is spearheading the creation of a completely new Nexus Mod Manager. The aim? To learn from over 6 years of experience developing NMM and MO respectively to create from the ground up a single mod manager that will be as simple to use and understand as NMM, and as advanced and feature-filled as MO, that will enable you to mod all your favourite games. Remaining completely open source, it will be developed with extensibility in mind, with the idea of plugins for the manager being a very real possibility.

I imagine you’ve got a lot of questions.

First of all, What’s going to happen to the current Nexus Mod Manager?

There’s no easy way of putting this; the current Nexus Mod Manager is now end-of-line. Essentially, we’re going to stop all further major development on the current version of NMM to focus on the new software. We will be releasing bug fixes as and when necessary to keep support for the current games (including Skyrim SE), but the current version available on the site, version 0.63, is going to be the last version with any major functionality additions. The software will obviously still work and the web services will stay up, as per normal.

I want to personally thank (and apologise to) the NMM testing team who volunteered their time in recent months to help us test various features in 0.6x of NMM, your help was invaluable. We ultimately decided that we needed a fresh start to properly deliver on profile sharing, among other things. We’ll definitely be needing your help and hopefully making use of your services (if you’re willing) with the new version of NMM we’re working on.

What is going to happen to Mod Organizer?

Obviously I won't be working on MO any more which unfortunately means that, unless someone else picks up where I left, MO v2 won't appear in a stable version. I know that will appear as a loss now and I apologize to everyone who was looking forward to a new release.

I do hope however that you trust me, and everyone else at Nexus Mods, to understand what youliked about MO.

I'm confident that with what we're planning you won't be missing MO for long.

How long have you been working on this? How long is it going to take?

Tannin officially started working for us at the beginning of August. We’re determined to get it right this time, so we’ve been spending a lot of time getting everything written down into proper documentation. Actual programming work has now begun on the project and while I cannot give you any specific timeframes as to how long it’ll take before we get things out, you can rest assured it’s being worked on.

Will it have this? Will it have that? Why aren’t you giving us more details?

We cannot go into too many specifics right now as to what the new manager will and won’t include, because we’re still actively getting to grips with what is and isn’t possible and what the best method for doing things is going to be. Naturally we don’t want to promise something that we can’t fully deliver on.

We will provide more details during the course of the development of the software, but right now, this is just an announcement news post.

FFS, you’re going to make NMM more complicated/FFS, you’re going to dumb down MO.

What we’re aiming for with the new manager is the very best of both managers, in one manager. We don’t want to dumb down the advanced nature of MO, and at the same time we don’t want to swamp the more casual users of NMM who really just want a very simple modding tool.

The real key to all of this is going to be in how we handle the UI and UX of the software, and we hope to hire on Phill, the UI/UX and designer we hired for our new site design to help us in this regard. We want something that is going to enable advanced modders to get into the really deep stuff easily, without presenting the casual modders with overbearing and complicated windows right from the get-go.

Most of all, we want one piece of software that lets casual modders transition into more advanced modders gradually and at their own pace, without having to switch mod managers and reinstall all their mods.

Will you be putting in place better testing methods to prevent a repeat of certain mistakes made in the development of NMM?

Yes, we fully intend to learn from those mistakes.

We cannot stress enough that we are still in the beta stage of NMM. NMM is in a very good state and will be usable by nearly everyone, but Beta stages are typically used for testing and bug fixing, and some of you will find bugs.

We are using a bug tracker system on our forums that allows you to post any bugs you might have with NMM. We cannot fix a bug if you do not report it! Using the tracker system is as intuitive as making a post on a forum, and you can login to it using your Nexus username and password.

We also have a beta test subforum that contains all the information you need to know to get started, report bugs and help us with development of NMM.

Limitations

We don't want to make you think that NMM is the solution to your problems getting 1,000 mods to all work together right now. It's our aim to to reach that point and it's what we're working towards. However, even simple mods can be a complex business and trying to get many mods to all work together is something people in the community have been working hard to do since the start of this community. NMM is designed to make your life downloading, installing, updating and managing mods easier, but it will not currently be the wonder pill that will make all your conflicts and compatibility issues disappear. Load orders, conflicts and compatibility issues still exist with NMM at this time.

Mods may not work for a number of different reasons, and not all of them are the fault of NMM or the mod author who created the mod(s). Please remember this before you verbally abuse us, or the file authors, for not being able to get your mods to work.

Having said that, development is ongoing with NMM to make these difficult aspects of modding as easy to overcome as is possible within the limits of the game. We are working hard to not only ensure these issues are mitigated as much as possible within NMM, but also to ensure our program is compatible with any other tools and utilities you might use at the moment to deal with them.

Open Source Development

Built from the ground-up using knowledge working on the Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) software, NMM is a completely new mod management program that attempts to make downloading and installing modifications easier for all users of the Nexus sites. We are releasing NMM as a completely open source piece of software under the copy-left GPL license. This means all the code that makes NMM work is open for you to view, edit, modify and even use, so long as you follow the GPL license. Similarly it means we can work with and cooperate with other open source tools and utilities made within the community, and outside of it as well.

We are a modding community and we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for people sharing their work with others, be it the game developers sharing their toolsets with us, programmers sharing their utilities or mod authors sharing their work. Without people sharing their knowledge with others we would have nothing, and that's why releasing our code as open source is important to us. It means that:

  • You can trust that what you're installing has no hidden files, no spyware, no adware and nothing nefarious
  • You can modify and use the source code in whatever way you wish, so long as it adheres to the GPL license
  • You can help us with the development of NMM through our GitHub page, or create your own tools and utilities that work in conjunction with NMM
  • Rather than only having a small team of closed developers working on the program, anyone and everyone can help contribute with their own skills and ideas
  • NMM is a community-driven project based on sharing knowledge with others, rather than coveting it and using it to turn a profit
